the winfords in paris

not to be dramatic, but we definitely left a piece of our hearts in paris last fall.

we truly loved the city of love. paris gets a bad rap for being full of rude people, but we were met with kindness and grace as we wandered through paris (and stumbled through the french we learned on duolingo). so many people warned us about all the trouble that likely awaited us in the city of love, but i genuinely cannot recommend visiting paris enough. it was a place so full of art and beauty and history (and honestly made it on the list of places we want to visit again!) i do recommend learning the french basics, but as long as you do that and walk through the city with respect and kindness, i believe there are good times to be had by all.

this blog in particular highlights some of the film photos i was able to snap, including some of log who is always behind the camera (so feeling particularly proud of that). looking back at these photos, i am instantly transported to the nine hours we spent at the lourve, the trip to the top of the arc de triomphe, walks around montemarte - and most importantly: all the french cafes, double espressos, and croissants.

one of the things we learned during our visit was that museums are free on the first sunday of every month during the off-season (october through february). because my whole existence is planning ahead, we already had most of our museum days scheduled, but we ended up climbing the stairs to the top of the arc just because it was the first sunday and it wasn’t going to cost us anything extra. i am not one for stairs, but i will say - the view from the top might be worth all of the stairs and the 13 or so euros they were charging. we didn’t go to the top of the eiffel tower, so i am glad that we had the chance to see the city from above (and actually have the eiffel tower in our view rather than below our feet).

i could talk about our time in paris for hours on end (and likely by the time i stop writing blogs, i will have). i feel like each experience deserves its own moment in the spotlight, so i will save the rest for another day.
